Thursday, November 2, 2006 Nailbat Begins #05 This comic contains a lot of info about future events in the nailbat story, setting up the villains as well as a hint to things that you'll find out about them later. And yes while I know what the panel before last is implying, the truth is different from, but equally as sinister as what you're thinking. Gecko was quite difficult to draw in spite of his basic design being a bald guy in a suit, his tatoos are rediculously complex and take forever to draw. The Idea came from the manga Gundam Seed Astray R in which the villain had large eyes tatooed on his forehead. I wanted to try something like that creating a character whom intimidates people by looking at them with his tatooed eyes rather than his real ones. The downside is his tatooes come off looking like a hat once they're inked. Mabey I should have kept them in pencil to seperate the view of a pattern from a solid object. Too late now though. Ink is a rather unforgiving medium. One final comment on Gecko. I was originally planning to include the lines "He says the tatoos are so he can become a lizard. It looks more like one his eating his head." But ultiamtely I chose to replace it with an brief explanation of what the Loan Sharks are. Anyway. Come back next week for VIOLENCE!
