Thursday, May 31, 2007 Nailbat Begins #34 You probably noticed the drasticly different art style here. I thought that mabey doign two whole strips in high contrast would be a bit boring (not to mention bankrupt my ink supply). Here I'm doing a crosshatch style, in an attempt to give everything an older and grittier look. Thoug this style also proved to be very time consuming, so you'll see yet another style next week. The second thing you've likely noticed is that no one has any lines, aside from the one loud "CHARGE". Though the characters are indeed saying something I chose to leave their words unheard. Since it's set during a large scale battle, you wouldn't be able to hear conversation anyway. Lastly, mabey you're wondering about these two WWII era super heroes, Bulleteer and Hermes. Hermes has some history behind him that you'll see later, though Bulleteer was made up on the spot. I think my favorite panel in this strip was the first. Normally my humans are kind of anime looking, but I made the effort to make this unknown soldier a bit more realistic, since I wanted to convey a sense of seriousness. Not that there isn't a bit of humor in this strip. Return to ARCHIVE | |||||
